These are all of my concert ticket stubs from 1980-2015 that I managed to hang on to – I decided to inventory them by year(s). Enjoy the trip back in time to 1987 below…
The Tubes at the Country Club, Racer X/Shark Island/Hot Wheels/Redline at the Country Club, Ratt & Poison at the Long Beach Arena, Ruby Slippers/Idle Tears/Midnight Voyeur/Joker at the Country Club, Iron Maiden at Irvine Meadows, Billy Idol & The Cult at the Forum, Bon Jovi & Cinderella at Irvine Meadows, Agent X/Gratitude/Pair-a-Dice/Normandy at the Country Club, Boston at the Forum, Kiss Crazy Nights video shoot, David Bowie at Anaheim Stadium, The Cult at Long Beach Arena, Top of the Pops (tv show filming) with Kiss & Def Leppard, Cheap Trick at The Palace.
At this point in time I no longer faithfully wrote the opening act on the back of the ticket so I had to do a bit of research on that part. Since I was mostly clubbing to see bands, ticket stubs weren’t really a thing (just hand stamps). I know I saw other bands like Hurricane, Rough Cutt, and Poison, among others, at the Country Club 1986-88, but that we spent most of our band-watching time at other clubs around town (the usual places – Whiskey, Gazarri’s, Troubadour, FM Station, among others), but it wasn’t necessarily a time or place when I was good at keeping track of things ;o). And of course we can’t forget that Riki & Taime’s World Famous Cathouse opened in 1987, adding an entirely new dimension to the party scene. Good times, good times.
The Tubes on 2-19-1987 at the Country Club in Reseda, CA. Cost $13. To be honest, I had to go look up what songs The Tubes did because I simply do not remember anything about this show or why I went (oh yea, She’s a Beauty, a cool song). Racer X, Shark Island, Hot Wheels & Redline on 3-13-1987 at the Country Club in Reseda, CA. Cost $12. I got nothing on any of these bands.Ratt &Poison on 4-10-1987 at the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, CA. Cost $17.50 with a .50 service charge. What a great show this must have been! I can only guess…Ruby Slippers, Idle Tears, Midnite Voyeur & Joker on 4-24-1987 at the Country Club in Reseda, CA. Cost $8/50. I remember we used to go see Ruby Slippers here and there around town. Iron Maiden on 5-2-1987 at Irvine Meadows in Irvine, CA. According to rocktourdatabase.com, Yngwie Malmsteen and/or Waysted opened on this tour. Cost $17.50 with a .50 service charge.Billy Idol on 5-8-1987 at the Forum in Los Angeles, CA. According to rocktourdatabase.com, The Cult opened on this tour. Cost unknown – looks like a comp ticket. Bon Jovi on 6-20-1987 at Irvine Meadows in Irvine, CA. According to rocktourdatabase.com,Cinderella opened on this tour. Cost $15 + 1.50 service charge.Agent X, Gratitude, Pair-A-Dice & Normandy on 6-25-1987 at the Country Club in Reseda, CA. Cost $6. Boston on 7-18-1987 at the Forum in Los Angeles, CA. According to rocktourdatabase.com, Farrenheit opened on this tour. Cost $18.50.Kiss Crazy Nights video shoot. According to Kissfaq.com, KNAC gave out free tickets for this. Apparently I didn’t go since these two tickets are unused. Besides, you’d think, you’d hope, I would have remembered this…David BowieThe Glass Spider Tour on 8-9-1987 at Anaheim Stadium in Anaheim, CA. According to rocktourdatabase.com and setlist.com, Peter Frampton, Duran Duran, and/or Charlie Sexton were opening acts on this tour. Cost $22.50 – this may be one of the first tickets over $20. The Cult on 9-5-1987 at Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, CA. I can’t seem to figure out who opened on this tour. Cost $16.50.Top of the Pops was a British television show, which according to a quick internet search, was on from 1964-2006. Apparently it filmed some episodes in LA. I vaguely remember something about this. Ahhhh.
Cheap Trick on 12-29-1987 at the Palace in Hollywood, CA. Cost $14.50. I can wrap this post up by saying 1987 was not a year I remember much about….but I suppose I am not really surprised about that.
Siouxie And The Banshees opened for David Bowie at Anaheim Stadium, Peter Frampton played guitar in Bowie’s touring band and sang a verse of Sons Of The Silent Age but was otherwise a sideman.
I have a lot of those same ticket stubs and like you can’t remember much about the shows. Damn those 80s took my brain away!
You are swesome

Guns N Roses opened for The Cult at Long Beach Arena
Thanks! That would explain why I drove to Long Beach to see The Cult!
Do you still have the Ruby Slippers, Idle Tears, Midnite Voyeur & Joker stub? I’d love to buy it!
Hi Olivia – Gosh I hadn’t really thought about it before. I’m thinking lol.
