1983 Concert Ticket Stubs

Concert ticket stubs 1980-2015
These are all of my concert ticket stubs from 1980-2015 that I managed to hang on to – I decided to inventory them by year(s). Enjoy the trip back in time to 1983 below…

1983 – The Psychedelic Furs, Adam Ant, Scandal, Billy Squire, REO Speedwagon, Neil Young, Stray Cats, Rush, Journey, Aerosmith, Sammy Hagar, Bryan Adams, B-52s, Rick Springfield, Styx, Loverboy, Zebra, Iron Maiden, Quiet Riot, The Police, Cheap Trick, Kiss, and Pat Travers

Psychedelic Furs 1-4-1983
The Psychedelic Furs with Our Daughter’s Wedding on 1-14-1983 at the Bayfront Center Theatre in St. Petersburg, Florida. Cost $4.95. One of my new-wave bff’s favorite bands – still is to this day.
Adam Ant 1-27-1983
Adam Ant with Scandal on 1-27-1983 at the Tampa Jai Alai Fronton in Tampa, Florida. Cost $9.75. I’ll simply admit I had a crush on Adam Ant. It appears to be one of the few concerts I actually brought a camera to back in the ’80s…

Neil Young 2-14-1983
Neil Young on 2-4-1983 at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, Florida. Cost $12.50. No idea why it says void. (Thanks to Sam for the date correction!)
Stray Cats with the Busboys on 2-28-1983
Stray Cats with the BusBoys on 2-28-1983 at Curtis Hixon Hall in Tampa, Florida. Cost $9.50. One of the few shows I went to at this venue, which has hosted some legendary bands, including Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, and Elvis. Check out The Concert History of Curtis Hixon Hall.

Styx stub 9-1-1983
Styx on 9-1-1983 at the Bayfront Center Arena in St. Petersburg, Florida. This was the Mr. Roboto tour so it was a cool experience, but I decided that I wasn’t really into musicals. Cost $15.00.
Loverboy 10-9-1983
Loverboy with Zebra on 10-9-1983 at the Bayfront Center Arena in St. Petersburg, Florida. Cost $12.50.
Iron Maiden 10-16-1983
Iron Maiden with Quiet Riot on 10-16-1983 at the Lakeland Civic Center Arena in Lakeland, Florida. This was a memorable concert because I met some lifelong bffs – our pals that night recognized each other from middle school and from then on we all started hanging out together in the local club scene ;o).
The Police 10-29-1983
The Police with The Fixx and the Animals on 10-29-1983 at the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando, Florida. Cost $15.75.
Cheap Trick 12-4-1983
Cheap Trick with Lefty on 12-4-1983 at the Tampa Jai Alai Fronton in Tampa, Florida. Lefty was a very popular local band we used to go see in the clubs a lot – it featured Johnny Lee Middleton, later of Savatage and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Cost $9.95.
Kiss with Pat Traverse and Axe on 12-29-1983 at the Lakeland Civic Center in Lakeland, Florida. Cost $11.50.

  1. OMGS Sandy I can’t believe I remember almost all of these shows, hahaha! What a trip down memory lane! Oh be still my beating heart – Adam Ant. Psychedelic Furs, they were awesome! Omgs Cheap Trick, what a fantastic show that was, and Rush…geeze we got so stoned at Rush, lol. As much as I looooved Loverboy’s music, I remember feeling a bit disappointed in the show, they had lots of cool laser effects and stuff but I don’t know, something was missing in the energy, at least to me. Rick Springfield! I def remember that one…he was so dreamy, remember? LOL. Rock Super Bowl XVII wow there was nothing not to love about that show. I remember it rained.

Ahhhh now I want to go look through my old photo albums and see if I have any pics from those. I suspect whatever pics I had have long disappeared into the void somewhere. But I still have that pic in front of the Christmas tree, we were teenagers, I was wearing leopardskin spandex (HAHAHA yes!) and Joan Jett/Nikki Sixx/Tina Turner hair, before some concert in Lakeland. I don’t remember which show it was but I do remember you wore white spandex (HAHAHA yes!). I can’t believe my mom carted us around to all those shows. She was such a good mom, sigh.

I love this post, so much fun. Geeze and to think I probably only remember half the fun we had. And some of that I remember wrong… like for years I told people Adam Ant opened for Ted Nugent, pffft. Ok guess I better go read your psychology post on False Memories are Everywhere.

    1. Yes, your mom was the concert driver, such a cool mom! I wore RED spandex, not white lol. And that leopard spandex christmas tree picture is the best, it really needs to go on this blog somewhere for posterity…

  2. I was at the Lakeland Quiet Riot/Iron Maiden. (Colonial HS Orlando Florida, class of 85!)
Ran in and was at the rail, front and center! (Until I couldn’t hold on anymore and let the crowd surge me back, man was it hot!) I googled and found your site because I was excited that Rush is touring again, and went looking up ticket prices… Oh… am I crazy, I don’t think I paid very much in 83. Sure enough, your ticket stub confirmed it. At Dickies Arena here in Fort Worth, 500 to 700 for nosebleeds, and THOUSANDS for floor seating… I guess I will just listen to my CD’s! (Cassette player broke long ago.)

    1. AH, the good ole days of the Lakeland Civic Center ;o) Yes for sure, add a few zeros to these old ticket prices these days…who knew how lucky we were then! I doubt I will make it to the new tour either but I hope we both find a way somehow. I’m very happy you were able to find my site and confirm your ticket price memory! Thanks for checking it out!

    2. Hey again! Thought of your comment when I just saw a meme with a screenshot of the insane ticket prices and the wording “For the words of the banker are written on the corporate walls…concert hall.” :o0

      1. uhhhhvvvvvvvvvvv SALESMEN!!!!

So crazy. I guess it parallels the ridiculous cost to income ratio that we have experienced on everything since then. The car I drove to those days was one my mom bought me. She was a waitress. A single mom. She bought me a used car, a 1971 Ford Galaxy 500 with a baddy engine for, wait for it….. $500.00… I can’t put tires on my truck now for that. Lord have mercy!
